With spoilers that can possibly destroy your movie experience, this post talks about the post-credit scene in Captain Marvel – Marvel’s latest release and the last one before the much awaited Avengers: End Game. The movie, even though connecting a few plot lines together, induces much more confusion for the fans who have ultimately speculated a lot based on the story. Though the movie didn’t meet the expectations of some of the Marvel fans, it was the post-credits scene that got the most attention. Also, Captain Marvel has two post-credit scenes, one of which has cleared the air for the Marvel fans and have helped them theorize a possible theory that could make sense.
The Post Credit Scene
The first post-credit scene features the remaining Avengers who surpassed the unscrupulous Decimation. The scene shows how Brie Larson’s character is connected straight away to the Avengers: End Game. The post-credits scene shows Captain America (Chris Evans) discussing and observing the “Global Missing Count” with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). War Machine (Don Cheadle) comes and informs the duo that the pager has stopped working. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is seen maintaining the pager that Fury activated before he himself turned to dust in Avengers: Infinity War. Black Widow instructs Bruce that she wants to know who is on the other side of this thing and that she wants him to activate it at any cost. The moment she turns back, we see Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) starring Natasha in her face. “Where’s Fury?” asks Carol Danvers, and the scene ends leaving all the fans literally begging for more.
This post-credit scene, in particular, has some great significance on not only how Captain Marvel is connected to Avengers: Endgame but also that maybe Marvel studios is messing with us. Remember, the Big Game Endgame teaser? Remember the odd empty space between the characters in some of the scenes? Well, the post credit scene drops a strong hint that it is Carol Danvers who fits the space. Marvel masters in confusing its fans and letting them see trailers that are sometimes completely different from the film. It is a thing Marvel specializes in. Recall how they edited Spider-Man out from the early trailers of Captain America: Civil War. So when the studio premiered Avengers: Endgame teaser during the Super Bowl, fans took notice of the unusual gap in some of the scenes.
The first one was when Captain America, Black Widow, Bruce Banner, and War Machine are walking outside the Avengers HQ looking at something up in the sky. The unusual empty space between Bruce and War Machine is worth noticing. Remember that Captain America still had his beard in the Captain Marvel post-credits scene. However, here in this scene, he is clean-shaven, which means that it is after Carol has made contact with the Avengers.
The second scene shows off the heroic walk of all the superheroes in the Avengers HQ compound. Knowing that Captain Marvel has already teamed up with the Avengers, fans theorize that it could be Carol in that space. However, there are strong speculations that space is also occupied by the intelligent version of the Hulk, Professor Hulk.
According to the report by a website, forensic video expert, Ed Primeau said that it is quite difficult to tell that a character has been scientifically removed from a video on YouTube, just because the files are compressed while uploading and lack the necessary data. However, Primeau agreed that there is a strong possibility that someone is definitely been edited out from those scenes, considering the unusual gap between the Avengers. Ed Primeau only said that there is a high degree of probability which according to him is the strongest opinion he can give. Primeau said, “There’s definitely a possibility that there was something there and they decided to remove it in order to keep a secret with the film.”
Furthermore, Disney apparently showed brand new footage of Avengers: Endgame at a shareholders meeting which proves the point that Captain Marvel is on Earth and is helping the Avengers to plan their final attack on Thanos. According to Comicbook.com, here is a description of the footage involving Carol Danvers moment, taking place supposedly at Avengers HQ and involves Nebula as well:
The footage starts out with the Avengers sitting in the room at the Avengers compound we saw in the first teaser and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is in attendance. Nebula (Karen Gillan) mentions that she thinks Thanos would go to “the garden” after he completed his plan. Captain Marvel speaks up and tells the group they need to go there and use the stones to undo everything.
I know, there are a lot of fan theories floating around as the Avengers: Endgame release is approaching. And the number of theories keeps on increasing with every trailer or teaser drop by Marvel. Fans just need a reason to celebrate the theories inside their mind, and considering the less footage of Avengers: Endgame released by Marvel, people are stitching the threads themselves. However, what is the role of Captain Marvel, who is standing in the oddly-empty spaces between the Avengers, and how will they reverse the Snap will only be revealed on 26th April 2019, when Marvel will drop the biggest treasure they kept building for 10 straight years. Till then, enjoy the theories you see on the internet. They are pretty engaging at times.
