Chris Evans Talks Replacing Tim Allen in ‘Lightyear’ Spinoff

Date:

Chris Evans, who played the superhero character Captain America in the blockbuster film Avengers: Endgame, discussed his upcoming projects during an interview with Yahoo Entertainment on Thursday (July 11). The 39-year-old actor talked about his role in The Last Letter, which will air on ABC this fall as part of Disney’s network television lineup. He also previewed his role as Dick Grayson/Robin in the upcoming Disney+ show Dick Grayson, which will tell new stories about the DC Comics superhero Nightwing.

The Movie

Disney Studios is moving ahead with a spinoff of Galaxy Quest, Variety has learned. The film will be titled Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues and is set to star Sam Rockwell and Justin Long. The original cast of actors who played characters on a fictional sci-fi TV series will reprise their roles in an intergalactic adventure, which will see them trekking across space to solve an interplanetary crisis. Tony Shalhoub, Sigourney Weaver, and Daryl Mitchell are also set to return. Actor-director Dean Parisot (Red 2) is attached to direct from a script by Paul Scheer and Nick Giovannetti. The project is currently out to studios for distribution.

The Storyline

Captain America actor Chris Evans and Parks and Recreation alum Rob Lowe are teaming up for a new sci-fi show, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Apple has ordered a full season of 10 episodes for its untitled drama about an epic love story set against humanity’s last stand. Created by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Mark Friedman (The Family) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe), it is not known if one or both will be directing.

Interview with Chris Evans

How is it feeling to replace Tim Allen’s character on ‘Last Man Standing’? Does anyone understand how you are replacing a icon like that? It’s absolutely surreal. I grew up watching him and his show. I went from being a huge fan of his to working with him, so it was like a dream come true for me. I can’t describe how big of an honor it is to be able to take over his role and hold down that fort until he decides what he wants to do next, which I hope will be many years down the road because he still has got it! How has your life changed since becoming Captain America? Oh my gosh, everything has changed.
