CM Punk’s return at WWE Survivor Series 2023: The Latest News

In the world of professional wrestling, few names carry as much weight as CM Punk. He’s been a hot topic of discussion, holding the wrestling community in suspense as a highly sought-after free agent. Despite being a former WWE and AEW champion, CM Punk is currently unaffiliated with any wrestling organization. His last WWE appearance dates back to the Royal Rumble in 2014.

The buzz surrounding Survivor Series 2023, the year’s final and most significant pay-per-view event, has reached a fever pitch. Notably, Survivor Series 2023 is set to take place in Chicago, CM Punk’s hometown, adding an extra layer of excitement.

Over the years, there have been persistent rumors about Punk’s potential return to WWE at Survivor Series, nearly a decade after his departure. However, recent statements have cast doubt on these speculations.

During a recent episode of the Fightful podcast, Sean Sapp shared insights into the possibility of CM Punk’s return. He revealed, “I can tell you that CM Punk has personally informed close friends of his that it’s not accurate. There’s no board meeting planned, and it’s not scheduled for Survivor Series.”

CM Punk’s legacy within WWE is legendary, known for one of the longest championship reigns in the modern era. He was even considered a candidate to break the Undertaker’s storied undefeated WrestleMania streak, cementing his place in wrestling history.

After parting ways with WWE, Punk embarked on a journey into the world of mixed martial arts, following a path reminiscent of another wrestling icon, Brock Lesnar. In 2016, he joined the UFC, but his MMA career was fraught with challenges, including a loss in his debut match. Despite returning to the Octagon in 2018, Punk faced another defeat, ultimately marking the end of his MMA career.

In 2021, the “Best in the World” made a highly anticipated return to professional wrestling, this time with WWE’s rival company, AEW. However, Punk’s journey in AEW encountered a recent stumbling block when he was released from his contract. This decision followed a backstage altercation with fellow wrestler Jungle Boy and possibly a confrontation with AEW President Tony Khan. The wrestling world eagerly awaits the next chapter in CM Punk’s storied career.
