“Demand Free Speech” Disrupted By Antifa – Reports Says Protestors Took The Protest To The Roads

Date:

The members of Antifa had a clash with police on Saturday, when  the group tried attempting to disrupt a Demand Free Speech rally on Saturday in Washington DC. According to reports, there were several members of the left group who were seen removing the “Make America Great Again” caps off the heads of Trump‘s supporters.

Washington Times reported that the members of Black Lives Matter also took part in this clash. According to the Washington Post, a huge group of District of Columbia police were assigned for the smooth transition of the rally and to prevent any violence.

The Post said that police was successful in breaking one direct clash between Proud Boys group and the members of Antifa. However, after that police only worked om keeping the two sides apart. According to a report by Times, Antifa members were caught dragging objects into the street to stop the traffic. However, District police Chief Peter Newsham said that no arrests were made.

The Post mentioned in one of their reports that the authorities were buckled up to avoid any situation similar to the last month’s violence in Portland. This attempt prompted the police department to use tear gas against the protestors.

Bernars Kerik, former New York City Police Commissioner, said that Antifa should now be declared as a domestic terror organization. He said, “This is an extremely violent group that goes out, threatens, intimidates, attacks with extreme violence for political reasons”.

The conservative speakers who were addressing the free-speech gathering on Saturday included writers Laura Loomer and Milo Yiannopolous, and Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes. The Daily Beast reported that a number of speakers reported that they had been banned from the social media platforms because of their conservative views.

The other previously organized Demand Free Speech events were held in San Francisco and New York.
