Donald Trump lost around 204,000 of his Twitter followers in July. This happened when Twitter started its movement against the trails of suspicious accounts. The US President greeted the CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey on Tuesday hours after calling the social media platform to be playing the political games. Some of the Republicans and members of Congress have said that these social media platforms are biased against the Republicans. All the companies have rejected it by saying it is untrue.
The US President lost 0.4 percent of his followers in July when the platform decided to go against the suspicious accounts and also when they found out that the social media services were used to influence the voters in the 2016 elections. During the meeting between the two biggies, Trump mentioned that he loses his followers on a regular basis only to be told by the CEO that it is a part of Twitter’s strategy to remove fraudulent and spam accounts. Jack also mentioned that he himself has lost his followers.
On the accusations of bias against the Republicans, tech companies have said that their products are without any bias and they have asserted to their commitment. Trump said in a tweet on Tuesday that the platform doesn’t treat him well and that he would have had more followers if Twitter wasn’t playing its political games. Twitter said officially that the meeting was constructive for both the parties.
The company said in a official statement that, “They discussed Twitter’s commitment to protecting the health of the public conversation ahead of the 2020 US elections and efforts under way to respond to the opioid crisis”.
