According to Frank Luntz, there are certain Democrats who are beginning to use terminology which are popular with conservatives to highlight their policies. Luntz claimed on Friday, that the Republicans have to create a new and cogent message to tackle this new trend and also if they want to win in future elections.
Luntz said that, “My concern is that the Democrats are using — sometimes — language of the right as a way to push policies of the left. And conservatives have to be careful about that. You use softer, gentler, kinder words to push things that are about either government control or government giveaways, and the conservatives need to have a message — they need to have an answer to that.”
In his message, Frank was reacting to a 2020 montage of all the Democratic candidates who were claiming healthcare to be a “human right”. To debate it further, Ingraham added that if something is tagged as a human right, you don’t really need to debate on it anymore. He said, ” So if it is a human right, there is no debate, you have to give it to them.”
Frank agreed with her and said that if certain people are against policy proposals, they might as well be painted as cruel and inhumane. In response to the idea of Medicare for all, senior advisors said that this idea won’t go hand in hand with the voters eventually. He said that the voters will turn away from the candidates who would push the idea in the end. He also added that the claims where this idea provides better access to healthcare are still missing.
He said that, “I think it’s a campaign slogan. I don’t think it’s ever going to happen. They will self-destruct by getting behind it. I can’t believe they are making it a campaign issue. It’s so unpopular.”
