The fashion industry is growing at a large scale owing to the creative minds and technology. Ranging from global luxury brands to the local artisans, there is no shortage of innovation when it comes to successful experiments and inventions within the sector. The industry as a whole is embracing new opportunities each day, and Pearl Academy is leaving no stone unturned to keep up with all the new inventions. An amalgamation of Fashion, Design, and Media, Pearl Academy is the inventor of the young and creative minds across these three industries since its establishment in 1993.
Through their flagship event ‘Pearl Portfolio,’ the academy showcases the projects by the industry ready students across the domains of fashion, design, and media. This year, the Portfolio took place in Noida, Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur campuses respectively.
Driven by the passion for creativity and innovation, the graduating students of Pearl academy came up with exceptional designs which were appreciated by the professors and guests alike. Apart from the showcase of designs, major topics around Design, Fashion, and Media were discussed at length.
The main focus of this event was for students to showcase their projects and share their thoughts/opinions on the critical role played by innovation and out-of-the-box thinking in the scopes of fashion and design.
To leave an impact on the society, students at Pearl Academy developed creative solutions to challenging problems. They made use of different yet viral modes of communication to present their work like artificial intelligence, virtual reality, animations, films, podcasts, and Instagram, among others.
Another communication design student, Alisha Prabhakar, took up the matter of Leprosy to change the mindset of people around whereas Vedika Khemka opted for a podcast on parent-child communication, which gave us goosebumps.
A thought-provoking panel discussion succeeded the exhibitions at all the campuses. One panel discussion which stood out at the Noida campus was on the topic – D for Design | D for Deadlines. The study focused on enjoying work through creativity within the constraints of time and how it is essential for the best of designers to think and innovate within the restrictions which may be placed on them by the ever dynamic and ever-changing market and industry.
Eminent personalities like Neelam Arora, Creative Head, Fab India Overseas Ltd; Sundeepa Bamval Mandal, Head Designer, Zara; Samant Chauhan, Founder Designer, Samant Chauhan Fashion Label; Nishtha Gill, Founder & Creative Principal, Treemouse; Lakshmi Chand, Partner, RLDA and Founding Partner, HomesByDesign, graced the event with their presence.
The pleasant shift of focus towards societal evils and vices prevalent today was one of the most satisfying aspects of the event. It is touching to see that the younger generation today is much more liberal and open when it comes to changing the norms of society for the better – this was quite clear from the display of their work.
