As the Hurricane Dorian moves away from the Carribean archipelago, the Bahamas Prime Minister raised death count caused by this catastrophe from five to seven. He also said this death toll is expected to rise more.
Huber Minnis explained that the deaths involved two people, who were taken to New Providence Island as they were injured. However, the full scope of the disaster will only be known once the storm passes. He said, “We are in the midst of one of the greatest national crises in our country’s history. No effort or resources will be held back.”
He said he would be traveling to Grand Bahamas if the weather permitted. Dorian hurricane which was downgraded to Category 2 was the most powerful ever to hit Bahamas. People were trapped, floodwaters destroyed homes, and rescue efforts were all difficult.
