Difficulties started rolling over the weekend in for a state senator from Illinois after certain pictures were posted online. The pictures showed senator’s supporters at a fundraising event performing mock assassination of President Donald Trump.
Many people reacted about this event on various social media handles. One of the Facebook user wrote, “The tolerant left”. Whereas one other Facebook user wrote, “Why is this ok? I am sickened”.
The photos were posted by a woman on social media which showed the mock assassination on Friday night by the supporters of Sen. Martin Sandoval, who represents 11th District of Illinois, including parts of Chicago. According to the WCIA, the supportes were acting out in front of the guests.
One of the supporters can be seen pointing a fake machine gun towards another fellow supporter who’s wearing Trump’s mask and is dressed in an Mexican costume. The individual is appeared to replicate as if he’s been shot, by leaning back and grabbing his chest.
In another photo of the series, Sandoval can be seen standing next to the person holding gun.
The pictures outraged everyone on both sides of the aisle, with Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker thrashing them in a statement he made Saturday night. He said, “As our nation grapples with the epidemic of gun violence, purposely pointing a fake gun at anyone is insensitive and wrong. I condemn actions like the ones displayed in the pictures because they lack the civility our politics demands.”

Senator Sandoval released a statement on Sunday where he asked for the apology regarding the incident. He called the event to be unacceptable. He went to further apologize snd assure that he do not endorse any such violence. According to WCIA, Sandoval said, “I don’t condone violence toward the President or anyone else. I apologize that something like this happened at my event.”
