The country considered to be one of the safest in the world was traumatized by a horrible stabbing attack on Tuesday, when an attacker charged a group of people near a park in Kawasaki. The reports says that more than 12 children are injured and one girl lost her life along with a 39-year old man. The Fire Department of Kawasaki earlier informed that 16 students from elementary school and three more adults were injured.

The victims were taken to four different care facilities. However, the spokesperson from the Nippon Medical School Musashikosugi Hospital confirmed that a 12-year old girl and a 39-year old man died.

In lieu of the attack, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that it was heartbreaking, and that they are committed to do everything possible to keep the children safe at any cost. He further said, I’ve instructed the related ministers to take immediate action to ensure the children’s safety in going to and leaving school.

The suspect also died from wounds he suffered. According to police officials, he stabbed himself in the neck.
