Kellie Pickler’s husband Kyle Jacobs dead at 49 after apparent suicide: police
The husband of singer-songwriter Kellie Pickler, Kyle Jacobs, has died at the age of 49. Jacobs was found deceased in an upstairs bedroom/office from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, according to a statement from the Nashville Police Department.
“His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide,” the statement added.
Pickler, who placed sixth on “American Idol” in 2010, reported that she couldn’t find her husband and was unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office. She called 911 along with her personal assistant.
Pickler and Jacobs got engaged in 2010 and were married on New Year’s Day in 2011. Jacobs was a songwriter who co-wrote hit songs for Garth Brooks, George Strait, Kelly Clarkson, Clay Walker, Randy Travis, Scott McCreery, Josh Kelley, Jo Dee Messina and Craig Morgan.
He also co-wrote two songs, “Back Home” and “Already Gone,” that were featured on the ABC musical drama series “Nashville.” Jacobs also had success as a record producer, producing three number one singles for Lee Brice.
Jacobs appeared alongside his wife on the CMT reality series “I Love Kellie Pickler,” which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2017.
In his last Instagram post, he celebrated the album he co-produced for Lee Brice, “Hey World,” receiving an RIAA platinum certification on Thursday. The post included an image of the album’s cover and a message expressing his gratitude for being a creative part of the project.
