2 cases of Omicron found in Karnataka. Both the people returned from South Africa. Mild symptoms found.
The Omicron variant of Coronavirus is considered highly transmissible and also this variant is capable of undergoing recurrent mutations. This variant has now made its way to India as per the reports of the Union health ministry. They vocalize that these two people are from Karnataka.
The joint secretary of the health ministry Lav Aggarwal elucidates that the forebear has not reported any serious symptoms so far. He also added that the peril of being infected is identified and is currently being observed.
“All primary contacts and secondary contacts of both the cases have been traced and are being tested” the health ministry official was restated as saying. Due to privacy reasons, without revealing additional details about these two cases, confirmed that they were found to display clement symptoms so far. Moreover, there is no vaccination status available for the individuals who tested positive. The NITI Aayog Member VK Paul-who was present at the news briefing urged the citizens to get fully vaccinated.

Moreover, the health ministry officials confirmed that there are currently no plans of re-imposing the nationwide lockdown once again due to the emergence of the new variant of the virus. He also urged the citizens not to panic, they stressed that getting a necessary section of residents fully vaccinated is the present objective of the government.
Also earlier, India was set to restart commercial international flights on December 15, but on Wednesday threw out that plan and said a continuation date would be announced in due course. The government has advised the states to build up testing, a week after the health ministry said a recent fall in testing could undermine India’s efforts to contain the pandemic.
