Pillars of Eternity 2 Console Port Updates a New Release Date

Originally, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire was set to release on consoles this year 2018, after initially launching on the PC earlier in 2018. But then developer Obsidian were bought by Microsoft, which threw some doubt on the console port of the game.

But today (December 17), Obsidian reiterated that Pillars of Eternity 2 would still be coming to consoles. However, the console release of the game (which includes PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch), has now been pushed back to 2019.

“As we stated, our partners at Grip Digital have been hard at work, and Deadfire will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2019!” Obsidian stated in a blog post today. “We are pleased to also announce that the console edition will ship with all expansions, updates, and free DLC’s included at launch! We don’t have an exact date for you yet, but as soon as we have one, we will let you know!”

The console port of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire might not be a direct project of Obsidian, but the studio’s next game is very much on the horizon. The Outer Worlds was revealed for the very first time in a stylish trailer at The Game Awards 2018 earlier this month, and for all you need to know about the next game from Obsidian, head over to our Outer Worlds guide.
