During the July-September third quarter of fundraising, the Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders managed to bag a whopping $25.3 million for his presidential campaign. This massive figure is $7 million more than his numbers from second-quarter.
Pete Buttigieg, the South Bend Indiana mayor managed to raise $19.1 million in the past three months. While the figures seem impressive, it is still less than the candidate’s $24.8 million funds raised during the second quarter.
Unlike some of the rivals like, former Vice President Joe Biden, Buttigieg, and Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Sanders has big donor fundraisers and he instead relies completely on grassroots donations. His campaign announced that the candidate received 1.4 million donations in the past three months.
Bernie Sanders’s campaign manager Faiz Shakir said in a statement that “Bernie is proud to be the only candidate running to defeat Donald Trump who is 100 percent funded by grassroots donations – both in the primary and in the general.”Faiz continued to say that “media elites and professional pundits have tried repeatedly to dismiss this campaign, and yet working-class Americans keep saying loudly and clearly that they want a political revolution.”
The campaign Sanders was leading announced that the average individual contribution received was $19 and also that more than 99.9 percent are able to donate again to the campaign. The campaign lead by Buttigieg mentioned that they are successful in raising more than $51 million since the beginning of this year. They also highlighted that 182,000 new members contributed to the campaign which raised the total number of donors to 580,000. The average contribution for their campaign was $32, as reported.
