Surviving Long Haul Flights – What You Need to Know

Date:

For those of us who love to travel, long haul flights are an unfortunate but mostly unavoidable part of our adventures. If you’re a traveller for whom that sense of dread sets in the minute you take your seat, then you’re probably going to enjoy some of the advice that follows. Whether its ways to make your trip more productive, tips for fitting in your beauty regime, or just ideas for getting through it without losing your mind, we’ve got some advice to make the most of your travel time.

Get Your Game On

A great benefit of many long haul flights is the relatively recent addition of wifi. This could be great news if you’ve got work to get on with, or even more fabulous news if you want to spend some time playing games. Most of us have a guilty pleasure game that we just can’t get enough of and now you’ve got the chance to play it for hours! Casino Smash could be the providers of your next guilty pleasure, as with their new mobile app you have dozens of games right at your fingertips.

In order to start playing, you need to install Slotomania to play with free coins. The nice thing about an offer like this is you really can try before you buy. There’s no need to pay a penny. So just recline your chair and sink yourself into a couple of hours of excellent quality gaming.

Get Your Glam On

It’s no secret that the air conditioning on planes is torture for your skin. When you combine everyone’s germs floating around and the sheer dryness of the air, it’s a wonder we don’t all break out after travelling. Thankfully, on a long haul flight you’ve got time for a full pampering regime, and let’s face it, what else can you do from the confines of your seat? Bring your 100ml tubs with you and get set for a spa day. Start by thoroughly cleansing your face with an exfoliating wipe, making sure all the grime of the day is gone.

Next up it’s time to clear out those pores. Individual face masks are usually well under the 100ml limit and still feel super luxurious. Choose a warming one to open up your pores and leave it on for at least half an hour. Once it has worked its magic, carefully remove with a facial wipe and then use a damp flannel to buff away any impurities. Apply toner with a cotton pad to close up those squeaky clean pores again, and finally apply your usual moisturizer to rehydrate your skin.

If you’re prone to dry skin then it’s a good idea to do a final wipe and re-moisturize an hour or so before landing. Oh and most importantly, don’t go through all of this only to ruin it by drinking too much on-flight prosecco! Alcohol is terrible for your skin, so if you must indulge, remember to drink plenty of water. This way you’ll arrive at your destination feeling dewy skinned and fresh.

Get Your Geek On

How often do you have more than an hour uninterrupted? How about more than four? Probably only when you’re sleeping! So make the most of this time by learning something new. Podcasts are incredibly popular at the moment, which means there are more exciting options than ever before. Stuff You Should Know covers topics that could pique anybody’s curiosity and is presented in an accessible way, that will leave you feeling like an expert on any subject.

If you aren’t into the podcast idea, then maybe choose an audio-book. There are usually hundreds of audio-books available as free downloads from your local library, or if you feel like spoiling yourself, treat yourself to one from Audible, Amazon or any number of audio-book providers. You would be amazed at the number of books that can be read in a 6-hour flight.

Another alternative, if you feel like getting nerdy, is to pick up a new language. If you’re a frequent flyer or even have an hour or so of commute each day, then you’d be amazed at how quickly you can accumulate new vocabulary. Apps like Duolingo are brilliant if you can use your hands, but if you’re stuck to the wheel on your commute then yet again, audio-books are your friend.
