Triggers for Acid Reflux Condition and Few Home Remedies

Acid Reflux is a very common syndrome of modern people having quite a hectic and stressful way of life. It happens when our stomach produces too much stomach acid in course of the digestion of the food we intake. When this hyperacidity syndrome occurs too often, the acidic content of the stomach starts impacting the strength of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) and it starts leaving a gap occasionally between the oesophagus and the stomach. The acidic stomach content then starts flowing upwards through that gap and occasionally reaches up to the throat area resulting in burping and recognition.

This generates an uncomfortable sensation and it is often termed as heartburn. This is a grave condition and is referred to as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or (GERD).

The reasons behind developing the disease

The Acid Reflux syndrome is often referred to as a lifestyle disorder disease. In the modern, hectic, stressful, urban lifestyle, it is often found that a good number of people of the society are suffering from hyperacidity frequently and as result of that 20% to 40% of them has developed Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).

The irregularities in taking the daily main food in proper time, spending long sleepless nights being engaged either in professional activity or relaxing in a nightclub till late at night, are amongst those few major reasons for the development of the physical condition.

Foods that are helpful in relieving heartburn include:

Apple cider vinegar and water

Research has shown that having a small amount of vinegar helps in neutralizing the stomach acid and balancing pH of the intestine. Two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar are mixed with around five ounces of water are usually suggested to neutralize Hyperacidity condition.

Fresh Pineapple juice

There is an enzyme called bromelain in Pineapple juice. It has a great role in the digestion of proteins and thus it helps in eliminating the acidic condition of the stomach.


Licorice has an effective role in coating the stomach lining and thus protecting the inner wall of the stomach from erosive damage. That is how it helps in a good way to get relieved from heartburn.


It is found that ginger tea has a very effective roll in soothing the stomach and intestine. Researchers have shown that the anti inflammatory compound called gingerol present in ginger is quite effective for a soothing digestion.
