It is logical to assume that Joe has no further justification to kill anyone unless they threaten him or Kate. However, Joe has a deep desire to kill, and with Kate’s power and influence, he now has the opportunity to murder with impunity. Knowing he is protected, Joe may get careless in his pursuit of the thrill of the kill, especially if he can justify it through self-reasoning such as protecting himself and Kate.
