New Delhi , India– Apple today introduced iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone. Unfolded, it stands as the thinnest iPhone ever, featuring a 7.6-inch inner display with a anti-glare nano-texture finish that creates an expansive canvas for gaming, content, and multitasking. Closed, the 5.4-inch outer display delivers 90 percent of the screen area of iPhone 18 Pro in a ultra-compact, pocketable design—matching the inner display’s aspect ratio so content scales proportionally for seamless visual continuity. Engineered around an innovative precision hinge, iPhone Duo combines an exceptionally durable hardware structure with a smooth, satisfying tactile feel. Powered by the new A20 Pro chip, a custom vapor chamber thermal system, and a dual-battery architecture, it delivers sustained pro performance and all-day battery life. The advanced camera system unlocks unique image capabilities only possible on a foldable frame, while iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, and Siri AI adapt fluidly to provide powerful, context-aware intelligence.

iPhone Duo is available in two refined colors: star white and night sky. Pre-orders begin Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23.
“iPhone Duo is the most transformational change to iPhone since the original. With an entirely new design and intuitive experiences, it shows what’s possible when hardware and software are engineered together and redefines what it means to use a foldable phone,” said John Ternus, Apple’s CEO. “With the largest display ever on iPhone that still fits easily in your pocket, combined with the power of A20 Pro, iPhone Duo helps you stay more immersed and productive wherever you go, whether you’re enjoying content, multitasking across apps, or gaming.”

Two Displays, One Breakthrough Design
The iPhone Duo features Apple’s largest iPhone display in a completely new design. When closed, it is easy to hold with one hand and fits comfortably in a pocket. Its 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display offers about 90% of the screen area found on the iPhone 18 Pro.
When opened, the iPhone Duo’s 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving users a bigger and more immersive screen for everything from browsing and watching videos to working and creating content.
A premium nano-texture finish helps reduce glare and reflections. It gives the screen a smooth matte look, makes the crease less noticeable, and feels comfortable to touch.
The inner display also features a new FaceTime camera that stays hidden when it is not being used, keeping the screen clean and uninterrupted. Both displays have the same aspect ratio, so the experience remains smooth and consistent whether the iPhone Duo is open or closed.
Both screens also support ProMotion, Always-On display, and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Later this year, the iPhone Duo will also support Apple Pencil with USB-C, allowing users to take notes, draw, or mark up documents on either display.
Touch ID is integrated into the side button for easy, secure, and consistent authentication whether iPhone Duo is open or closed, and users can unlock iPhone Duo using their Apple Watch. The design also features Camera Control to quickly launch the camera, including the brand-new Siri Camera mode, which lets Siri see what the user sees to answer questions and take action.
Designed for Durability
iPhone Duo is engineered for exceptional durability and a premium tactile feel. Its structural core combines grade 5 titanium for maximum strength with internal support ribs and ceramic fiber inserts for enhanced frame rigidity. On the outside, an elegant mirror-polished finish pairs with a 3D-printed, micro-blasted hinge cover—a mechanism crafted from over 100 components to deliver precise, smooth opening and closing. Protected by Ceramic Shield on the back and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front (offering 3x better scratch resistance than the previous generation), iPhone Duo is also splash, water, and dust resistant with an IP68 rating.

Designed for exceptional everyday durability, the inner display features a scratch-resistant coating paired with a custom-polymer nano-textured cover layer that delivers up to 40% higher stiffness than industry standard materials. High-strength glass layers sandwich the folding panel, bonded by custom adhesives that slide past one another like book pages to relieve bend stress. At the base, a titanium plate provides additional structural reinforcement.
An Advanced Camera System with New Experiences
iPhone Duo introduces an advanced camera system engineered around its breakthrough design. At its heart is the new 48MP Fusion Main camera, combining zero-shutter-lag 48MP capture with a 24MP default mode that balances staggering detail with efficient file sizes. It also doubles as an optical-quality 2x Telephoto for seamless zooming. Enhanced by a new computational pipeline, a larger sensor, a fast aperture, and sensor-shift optical image stabilization, it elevates detail and low-light performance to a whole new level.
The 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera, also featured on the iPhone 18 Pro models, captures a wider field of view and supports macro photography. The Center Stage front camera can automatically capture photos and videos in any orientation, so users don’t need to rotate the iPhone for landscape selfies.
Upgraded Photographic Styles give users more creative control, with new texture and grain adjustments that make it easier to customize the look and feel of their photos.
Built beneath the inner display, the new FaceTime camera makes it easy to stay connected with friends and family, whether the iPhone Duo is held open or propped up on a surface for hands-free calls.
The dual-display foldable design unlocks camera capabilities unique to iPhone Duo. Powered by the A20 Pro, Smart Take uses on-device AI to automatically capture the shot when subjects pose—no timers or designated photographers required. Users can frame high-resolution rear-camera selfies using the outer display, while Duo Preview lets subjects adjust their framing in real time. To keep young children focused, Kid Cue plays lively Peanuts animations on the cover screen, and Duo FaceTime allows surrounding friends to seamlessly join video calls on the outer display.
On the video front, the 48MP Fusion Main camera records in 4K120 fps Dolby Vision for stunning slow-motion control, with post-capture Cinematic effects now supported up to 60 fps. Audio Mix uses updated algorithms for clearer voice isolation and music separation, while the self-standing foldable form factor enables hands-free 4K Dolby Vision time-lapses without a tripod.
A Reimagined Yet Familiar iOS Experience
Tailored specifically for iPhone Duo, iOS 27 builds on a familiar interface with transformative new ways to interact. Side-aligned Lock Screen controls, Dock icons, and app navigation maximize vertical screen real estate. When unfolded, the expansive display presents two side-by-side Home Screen pages alongside Today View—a vertically scrolling hub of customizable widgets. System status indicators nestle into a compact, circular corner display, while a reimagined vertical Dynamic Island expands seamlessly for Live Activities and alerts across both screens. Throughout the experience, iOS adapts dynamically: content responds as the device folds, reorients when rotated, and switches displays instantly when flipped.
Apple apps are optimized for iPhone Duo, and developers can easily adapt their own using updated APIs in the latest SDKs and upcoming Xcode Device Hub support. Third-party apps—including Netflix, Zoom, and Slack—are already leveraging the foldable design to deliver immersive experiences that make the most of the larger screen. This expansive display supercharges productivity with Split View, enabling users to run two apps side by side on iPhone for the first time. Users can quickly swap apps, open two windows of the same app (such as Safari), chat with Siri AI while viewing content on the opposite screen, and save custom App Pairs to relaunch later.
StandBy receives a major upgrade on iPhone Duo. Set the device down and StandBy automatically activates on either display—even when unplugged—turning it into a clock, photo frame, or widget hub. New Calendar and Weather faces join existing options, the Photos face now displays Shared Albums, and every layout offers deeper customization with new fonts, colors, and complications.
The Next Generation of Apple Intelligence and an All‑New Siri
iPhone Duo introduces Siri AI—an all-new generation of Siri rolling out in beta with iOS 27. Powered by Apple Intelligence, Siri is more personal, capable, and conversational, unlocking new utility on the expansive inner display. By pairing advanced AI capabilities with personal context, iPhone Duo functions as an intelligent personal hub built on a foundation of privacy and security.
Siri AI understands personal context to quickly find details across Messages, Mail, Photos, and more, while onscreen awareness enables seamless action on whatever is currently displayed. Users can generate written content by simply describing what they need, and the new Siri app organizes private conversation history—synced across devices via iCloud—so it’s effortless to pick up right where you left off.
Apple Intelligence also makes everyday apps smarter and more versatile. In Photos, users can refine captured shots using Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an updated Clean Up tool. Image Playground now generates photorealistic imagery, with upcoming support for the SynthID standard to help identify AI-generated or edited images. In Safari, Notify Metracks web page updates—such as price drops or restocks—to keep users informed in real time. To safeguard user data, Apple Intelligence relies on on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, extending iPhone’s core privacy protections seamlessly into the cloud.
Pro Performance with A20 Pro and Advanced Thermal Management
Powered by the A20 Pro—the same chip found in iPhone 18 Pro models—and paired with an advanced thermal management system, iPhone Duo delivers up to 35% better sustained performance than iPhone 17 Pro. A new chip package inspired by M-series Apple silicon connects the A20 Pro directly to a custom vapor chamber, efficiently dissipating heat during intense multitasking, gaming, and complex AI workloads. A custom display engine drives the inner and outer screens simultaneously, enabling fluid transitions between them. The 6-core CPU is up to 20% faster than the A19 Pro, making it the fastest CPU in a smartphone; the 7-core GPU is up to 40% faster and more power-efficient; and the new Dual 16-core Neural Engine provides double the compute power for on-device AI. Built on the latest 2-nanometer process, the A20 Pro also increases unified memory bandwidth by 50%.
Impressive All-Day Battery Life
The iPhone Duo features a high-density battery on each side of the device, helping maximize battery capacity while making efficient use of the available internal space. Apple’s silicon and energy-management algorithms allow both batteries to work together seamlessly as one.
This gives users up to 31 hours of video playback when using the inner display, up to 44 hours when using the outer display, and up to 24 hours of use on a single charge when both displays are used equally.
The iPhone Duo also supports fast charging. It can charge up to 50% in around 20 minutes with a wired connection, or up to 50% in around 30 minutes using a MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charger.
Powerful Wireless Capabilities
iPhone Duo features an eSIM-only design worldwide, saving internal space to maximize battery capacity. Compared to traditional physical SIM cards, eSIM offers greater flexibility, better security, and seamless connectivity. As an industry standard, it is supported by over 500 carriers globally, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and more. iOS 27 also introduces iPhone Handoff, allowing users with supported carriers to easily switch back and forth between two iPhone models with the same phone number.
Under the hood, the Apple-designed N1 wireless networking chip enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Joining it is the C2, Apple’s next-generation cellular modem system, which brings AI-powered improvements to cellular quality and reliability while adding U.S. mmWave support.
Beautiful New Accessories
To complement iPhone Duo, Apple is introducing a range of sleek new accessories. The iPhone Duo Folio—available in navy blue and taupe—features an integrated kickstand that adjusts to virtually any angle for reading, viewing content, or making FaceTime calls, folding flush when not in use. The iPhone Duo Case—available in sand and navy blue—offers a thin, lightweight two-part design that wraps seamlessly around both halves of the device. Both accessories support MagSafe, Qi2 25W, and Qi-certified wireless charging, utilizing built-in magnets for effortless alignment and fast charging.

iPhone Duo and the Environment
iPhone Duo was built with the environment in mind, advancing Apple’s ambitious goal to be carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030. It is made with 35% recycled content overall, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 100% recycled titanium in the 3D-printed hinge cover. Across the supply chain, iPhone Duo is manufactured with 60% renewable energy—such as wind and solar—while meeting Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency and safe chemistry. Like all Apple products, its paper packaging is 100% fiber-based and can be easily recycled at home.
