Breaking News: Pakistani Missiles Intercepted Over Jammu, Border Areas Face Blackout

Date:

Jammu: In a massive escalation, Pakistan attacked portions of Jammu & Kashmir just hours after its failed effort to hit 15 Indian cities. Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is being hit by airstrikes, while the border areas along the Line of Control and international border—RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar—are being heavily shelled.

The Air Defence Units intercepted eight missiles that were fired against regions with significant military installations, including RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar.

Loud explosions came from Jammu just before nine o’clock in the evening, followed by siren clamor and a blackout. Locals’ cellphone recordings revealed lights racing across the sky, indicating that the Indian military’s Air Defence System had intercepted the missiles and drones.

Every other minute, the sky is illuminated by the Air Defense System activation. There’s a lot of tension on the ground. In certain areas of the city, cell phone coverage is unavailable, which makes it more difficult for residents to contact friends and family.

Pak F-16 Down

An F-16 supersonic fighter jet was shot down by the military as it took off from Pakistan’s Sargodha air base, according to sources. According to sources who spoke to NDTV, the soldiers had set up an Indian surface-to-air missile defense system.

Pathankot is Also Targeted

Pathankot in Punjab, which is only 30 kilometers from the international border, has also been heavily hit by Pakistani artillery. The city is the gateway to Jammu and is a tactical and strategic location.

Blackouts in Rajasthan and Punjab

There is currently a total blackout across the Jammu and Kashmir border regions. Chandigarh, Ferozepur, Mohali, and Gurudaspur in Punjab, as well as portions of Rajasthan, another state that borders Pakistan, have also been designated blackouts.

The stadium lights have been turned off, and the IPL cricket match that was playing in Dharamshala has been canceled.

Pak had previously targeted 15 cities.

The attacks occur one day after the devastating terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which prompted Operation Sindoor, which involved precise strikes on militant bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

The army and the government have emphasized time and again that the strikes are precise, regulated, measured, and non-escalatory.

Early today, the Indian military thwarted Pakistan’s effort to attack military installations in 15 cities, including Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh.

In response, the military targeted and destroyed Pakistani Air Defense Radars and equipment in a number of places, including Lahore.
The government said that the Indian military’s response was “in the same domain (and) with the same intensity” as Pakistan’s attacks.

“The Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military,” the ministry stated in a statement.
