Gurugram | Storify News Desk The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 10 results for 2026 on Wednesday, and Gurugram has found a new academic hero. Tanay Srivastav, a student of Amity International School, Sector 46, has achieved the “impossible” by securing a perfect 500 out of 500 marks.
While the city celebrated a robust overall pass percentage of 93.2%, Tanay’s flawless score has made him a national sensation, proving that academic excellence is a result of strategy rather than just long hours of study.
The Success Formula: Concepts Over Clock
Unlike the traditional image of a topper buried in books for 15 hours a day, Tanay’s approach was refreshingly balanced. Speaking about his achievement, he emphasized that he never followed a rigid, hour-based timetable.
“My success was driven by conceptual clarity and consistent self-discipline. I focused on structured revision and followed my teachers’ guidance to the letter, especially regarding how to present answers,” Tanay shared.
Key highlights of his preparation strategy included:
- The NCERT “Bible”: Tanay treated NCERT textbooks as his primary resource, mastering every diagram and exercise before touching reference material.
- Target-Based Study: Instead of counting hours, he set subject-wise daily goals and didn’t stop until those topics were fully understood.
- Self-Study Mastery: He relied heavily on self-paced learning and utilized online resources specifically for doubt-clearing, rather than depending solely on external coaching.
Eyes on the Future: A Passion for Research
While many high-achievers immediately aim for traditional engineering or medical seats, Tanay has a different vision. Currently a student of the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) stream in Class 11, he aspires to build a career in scientific research.
His foundation is already rock-solid; he has previously qualified for the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) and performed exceptionally in the Aryabhatta Ganit Challenge. His long-term goal is to represent India at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) and contribute to global scientific innovation.
A Proud Moment for Gurugram
The Gurugram region, which now operates under its own regional office established in 2025, showed a significant performance this year. Out of over 1.09 lakh students who appeared in the region, more than 1.01 lakh emerged successful.
Tanay’s father attributed this milestone to years of steady dedication and his son’s lifelong curiosity. “It is a moment of genuine, hard-earned delight for the entire family,” he said.
As students across the country look up to his 100% score, Tanay’s story serves as a reminder that with the right mindset—prioritizing depth of understanding over the quantity of hours—any academic peak is scaleable.
