New Delhi, January 30: Cricket today is no longer limited to what happens on the field. Data, insights, and real-time analysis are becoming just as important as skill and strategy. Highlighting this shift, Google has partnered with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to showcase how artificial intelligence can understand and explain live cricket matches.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai, a known cricket enthusiast, shared how the company’s AI model, Gemini 3 Pro, can analyse a match by watching video footage, listening to live commentary, and breaking down what is happening in clear and simple language.

Sharing the development on X (formerly Twitter), Pichai wrote, “Now Google can help with your googly,” pointing to AI’s growing role in decoding complex aspects of the game for fans.

As part of the demonstration, Google showed how Gemini 3 Pro can process both visual and audio data from a live cricket match. The AI is capable of identifying key players, explaining bowling and batting techniques, and highlighting crucial moments that influence the outcome of a game.

The collaboration is also focused on improving fan engagement and accessibility, with a special emphasis on supporting women’s cricket. The partnership will extend across several Google platforms, including Android, Google Gemini, Google Pay, and Google Pixel, to create a more connected and immersive fan experience.

From discovering match highlights to understanding tactical moments and celebrating victories, the integrated approach aims to bring fans closer to the sport at every stage.

In a separate post, the official Google Gemini account stated that the partnership with the ICC demonstrates how Gemini 3 Pro can analyse cricket video content and provide meaningful insights by combining audio and visual understanding.
