IPL 2026: CSK in Talks to Trade Ravindra Jadeja for Sanju Samson; RR Seek Additional Player in Deal

Date:

Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batter, is being acquired by the Chennai Super Kings through a trade agreement with the Rajasthan Royals. In exchange, former captain Ravindra Jadeja, who started his IPL career with the Royals, is expected to leave CSK. It’s interesting to note that both players were kept by their respective teams before to the massive auction last year.

The Super Kings are anticipated to make major roster changes for the upcoming season after finishing at the bottom of the rankings in 2025 and winning just four games.

Getting Samson is a crucial component of the solution to the five-time champion’s primary problem, which was a lack of punch in its batting unit.

It is known, nevertheless, that in exchange for Samson’s release, the Royals have requested another player. Although a straight trade between the two players, who are each valued at over Rs. 18 crore, is CSK’s first desire, the five-time winner has not ruled out adding another player to the deal.

In 2008, Jadeja made his debut in the first IPL season and was instrumental in the Rajasthan Royals’ championship victory.

The all-rounder paid USD 2 million to join CSK in 2012, and he has been instrumental in the Men in Yellow’s victories in 2018, 2021, and most notably in 2023 when he hit ten runs off the final two deliveries against the Gujarat Titans in the championship match.

After a two-year tenure with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Samson returned to RR in 2018. He had joined the team in 2013 and stayed with until 2015. Since taking over as captain in 2021, he has guided the team to the championship game in 2022.
