Mumbai, February 24, 2026: Nemetschek Group, a global software provider for the architecture, engineering, construction and operations (AECO) industry, has announced the appointment of Alok Sharma as Managing Director and Vice President for India.
The leadership move comes as India continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing construction markets, supported by sustained investments in infrastructure, urban development, transport corridors and public sector modernisation. With digital technologies increasingly shaping project delivery, compliance and lifecycle management, the Group views India as a key pillar in its global expansion strategy.
Leadership Focus and India Growth Roadmap
In his new role, Alok Sharma will lead the company’s India growth agenda, focusing on enterprise expansion, deeper government engagement and accelerating the shift toward subscription-driven and SaaS-based digital construction solutions. A core priority will be advancing Building Information Modelling (BIM) adoption across infrastructure and real estate ecosystems while strengthening local partnerships.
With more than three decades of experience across India and the SAARC region, Sharma brings extensive expertise in scaling software businesses, managing enterprise negotiations and transitioning go-to-market models from traditional licensing to cloud-first frameworks within the AEC sector.
Leadership Commentary
Commenting on the appointment, Pete Nicholson, Senior Vice President at Nemetschek Group, said:
“India represents one of the most dynamic construction markets globally. As infrastructure investments scale and digital mandates gather pace, strengthening local leadership is central to our long-term growth strategy. Alok’s deep domain expertise and understanding of the Indian market will help us expand our presence and deliver greater value to customers.”
Alok Sharma added: “India’s built environment ecosystem is entering a decisive phase of digital transformation that aligns directly with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. With increased focus on efficiency, transparency and lifecycle optimisation, there is significant opportunity to scale BIM and advanced digital workflows across public and private sector projects. We see the need of technology adoption as a key lever in realising the future of infrastructure in India.”
Strengthening Digital Construction Strategy
Through this appointment, the Nemetschek Group aims to further align its multi-brand technology portfolio with India’s evolving infrastructure ambitions. The company intends to support stakeholders with integrated digital workflows, AI-enabled solutions, digital twin technologies and open standards such as OPEN BIM to improve productivity and sustainability across project lifecycles.
