On X, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Andhra Pradesh’s connectivity and driving economic growth.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, announced significant infrastructure developments in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on enhancing connectivity and economic growth through new and upgraded road projects.
The announcements include the development of a 6-lane access-controlled greenfield highway from Koduru to Vanavolu, part of the NH-544G Bengaluru-Vijayawada Economic Corridor, aimed at improving travel efficiency and safety.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy under the #PragatiKaHighway and #GatiShakti programs, which aim to transform India’s infrastructure landscape by integrating various modes of transport for faster and more efficient movement of goods and people.
The projects are expected to reduce travel time significantly, with the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route potentially being covered in 2.5 hours via a new green express highway, addressing the high traffic volume and accident rates on existing routes.
These developments are crucial for Andhra Pradesh, a state with 272 industrial estates and special economic zones, aiming to boost its economy through improved infrastructure, as highlighted in recent policies and economic reports.
The announcements align with the state’s efforts to enhance its ease of doing business ranking and attract more industrial and commercial activities, as evidenced by the Andhra Pradesh IT Electronics Policy 2021–24, which focuses on creating world-class manufacturing infrastructure.
