Security personnel began a cordon and search operation in the Shukroo Keller region of the south Kashmir district after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there.
They said that once the terrorists opened fire on the retaliating soldiers, the search operation descended into an altercation.
According to police, three terrorists were thought to have been killed in the gunfight since their bodies were seen in the dense forest undergrowth.
The identities and sketches of three terrorists allegedly involved in the Pahalgam terror incident were previously made public by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The police issued a Rs 20 lakh reward for each of the three terrorists, who are all connected to the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The terrorists were identified as Hasim Musa, also known as Suleiman; Ali Bhai, popularly known as Talha Bhai; and Hussain Thoker, a native of Anantnag. Of the three LeT members, Thokar is a native of Kashmir, while Musa and Talha are thought to be terrorists from Pakistan.
The operation follows India’s incredible success in Operation Sindoor, in which nearly 100 terrorists were killed in strategic bases in Pakistan thanks to precision attacks. Among the objectives were Muridke, a crucial Lashkar training facility, and Bhawalpur, the Jaish headquarters.
