Weeks after his last Black Sabbath performance, Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 following a heart attack, Parkinson’s disease, and heart illness. Information about his health issues, heartfelt funeral, and legacy was made public.
In addition to Parkinson’s illness and cardiac issues, Ozzy Osbourne’s official cause of death has been determined to be a heart attack. On July 22, the 76-year-old Black Sabbath icon died at home in Buckinghamshire, flanked by his wife Sharon and kids.
What is the reason of death?
His lengthy Parkinson’s battle made “acute myocardial infarction” (a severe heart attack) and “coronary artery disease” the principal causes, according to his daughter Aimee’s London death certificate filing.
Ozzy’s family stressed that he passed away “surrounded by love” and asked for privacy despite years of health issues. The rock legend’s death occurred just 17 days after he thanked fans “from the bottom of my heart” during his moving farewell show with Black Sabbath in Birmingham.
Before he passed away, Ozzy had several health problems. He just made his Parkinson’s diagnosis public in 2020, having had a covert diagnosis in 2003. After a fall in 2019 that exacerbated previous spinal injuries from a quad-bike accident in 2003, he saw a significant decline in mobility, necessitating surgery and persistent agony.
In 2023, Ozzy acknowledged, “It’s been five years of absolute hell,” and he attributed his perseverance to his family’s support.
His legs were afflicted by Parkinson’s, but his voice was unaffected. Jack, his son, explained that Ozzy’s body was paralyzed by spinal injury, not simply Parkinson’s. Weeks before his death, he defiantly gave his farewell show while perched on a throne.
On July 25, Ozzy had a private and heartfelt funeral. In accordance with his desires, he was buried at “a beautiful point on the lake” at his lakefront Buckinghamshire estate, where about 110 close family members, friends, and artists, including guitarist Zakk Wylde, attended.
The house was packed with pictures of Ozzy, and each guest was given one as a memento. A memorial procession was held in Birmingham a few days later, with thousands of fans lining the streets.
“Birmingham will always love you” was written on posters near the Black Sabbath Bench, where Sharon and their kids sobbed as they lay flowers.
Before forever altering rock music, Ozzy “used to play on bomb sites” in Aston, where the hometown tribute paid homage to his origins.
As a rock pioneer and survivor, Ozzy’s legacy endures. In addition to winning three Grammys and selling over 100 million records, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice. His parting counsel?
Fans from all across the world, including Metallica and Elton John, sent in tributes. “If it weren’t for Sharon, I’d be long dead,” said Sharon, who was married to Ozzy for 43 tumultuous years.
Ozzy wanted to be recognized just as “John Osbourne: a working-class kid from Aston” who overcame adversity, despite his reputation for bat-biting antics and “Prince of Darkness” theatrics.
His devotion persisted to the end, as evidenced by the 2023 Grammy that his final record, *Patient Number 9*, received.
