The suspected architect of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, Sulieman alias Asif, was killed Monday in an encounter in Srinagar along with two of his comrades.
Sulieman was one of the three terrorists slain in a coordinated operation known as Operation Mahadev, according to a PTI report. Earlier in the day, the Indian Army and the police of Jammu and Kashmir conducted the joint operation.
According to the story, which cited senior security sources, the incident started on Monday at approximately 11 a.m. in the Lidwas neighborhood of Dara, which is near Dachigam National Park. Following a tip that there were foreign terrorists in the area, the security services took action.
The gunfight was fought between the Zabarwan and Mahadev ridges, hence the name ‘Operation Mahadev’. According to the PTI report, Jibran, who was purportedly involved in the Sonamarg Tunnel attack last year, and Hamza Afghani were the other two terrorists slain in the battle.
According to the HT article, intelligence reports during the previous month suggested that the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack may have relocated to the Dachigam area, which is around 20 kilometers from the center of Srinagar. On April 22, a cell of terrorists killed 26 civilians during an attack on tourists in the Pahalgam district of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran valley.
Following specific intelligence inputs, security personnel in Harwan’s Mulnar area began an anti-militancy operation. On Monday morning, when security personnel searched the area, two bursts of gunfire were heard in the distance.

Three Pakistani terrorists were slain in a clash with security forces on Monday, according to confirmation from Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.
“It is true that three Pakistani terrorists have been eliminated. The police administration will give full information about this… I congratulate the army, police and all those involved in this operation,” News agency ANI cited Sinha as saying.
