A senior party leader said on Saturday, August 16, 2025, that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, will begin a yatra on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to draw attention to the purported attack on the people’s right to vote through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral records in Bihar.
Former State Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh told reporters at a news conference in Patna that Mr. Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will probably stay in the State for more than two weeks till the “Vote Adhikar Yatra” comes to an end on September 1 with a rally in Patna.
Tomorrow, Mr. Gandhi will launch the yatra from Sasaram. All the necessary permission has been obtained from the authorities concerned. The yatra will build a tempo in favour of the INDIA bloc ahead of the assembly polls,” The MP for the Rajya Sabha stated.
In response to a question, he stated that Mr. Gandhi would probably “stay in Bihar for nearly 15 days” in order to lead the yatra, which had three “break days” on August 20, 25, and 31 and would cover “25 districts of the State.”
In addition to our other alliance partners, which include three Left parties, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, is expected to accompany Rahul Gandhi at Sasaram. We will attempt to gather leaders of as many like-minded parties as we can to the final rally in Patna on September 1st,” Mr. Singh stated.
