After just 10 episodes, audiences are enamored with Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, which debuted on Paramount+ in late 2024. The show tells the tale of powerful characters in the world of oil rigs in west Texas, interspersed with scenes of on-site devastation, tornadoes, and drug cartels. The cast of the show also includes well-known actors Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, and Billy Bob Thornton.
The question of whether a second season will be produced is raised by the release of the season finale, “The Crumbs of Hope,” on Sunday, January 12. Here is what we currently know. There will be spoilers.
Has the second season of Landman been renewed?
Although there hasn’t been a renewal officially, it appears likely that one will occur. Yellowstone was a great hit for Sheridan, and it appears that Paramount thinks highly of his work. “I’ve already completed the first season and I’m excited for us to start the second, which will be at the beginning of next year.” Moore said in a May 2024 interview while promoting The Substance, seemingly confirming the existence of a second season.
When Larter was questioned about a second season in an ELLE interview, the following exchange resulted:
Does production have a timeline set for the next season?
We do. [Silence.]
So, “soon.”
[Laughs.] I know. Exactly. I’m like, “Just announce it!”
However, the formal confirmation has not yet been received.
Landman season 2 release date
Although Paramount+ has not yet formally confirmed Landman Season 2, there are plenty of signs that it will happen. The first season ended on January 12, 2025, and it has been well received by viewers and critics, increasing the likelihood that it will be renewed.
What would Landman’s second season be about?
Boomtown, a well-known podcast that offers “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics,” served as the basis for the first season.
Thornton portrays Tommy Norris, an oil firm crisis manager. Larter portrays Tommy’s former spouse, Angela, with whom he has two kids, Cooper and Ainsley. Moore and Hamm portray Cami Miller and Monty Miller, another influential couple in the oil sector. There is still more drama to be discovered between the competing oil factions, but the final season culminates with a confrontation with the local cartel.
Who would be chosen for Landman’s second season?
There are no formal cast announcements because season two has not yet been announced. However, season two would probably include regulars James Jordan, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, Andy Garcia, Michael Peña, and Paulina Chávez, along with the primary ensemble of Thornton, Moore, Hamm, and Michelle Rudolph as Ainsley and Jacob Lofland as Cooper.
In an interview with ELLE, Larter expressed her excitement at playing Angela again and her thoughts on the character’s unrepentant trophy wife demeanor.
“She’s a total spitfire,” Larter said. “You see her going to the bar, and she wants the attention. She loves having fun. It’s not a dirty word to her. And then you see Tommy really love her for who she is.”
She continued, “She thinks of her job as going to the gym and looking great. But you’re also watching the reverse engineering of a trophy wife, someone who’s had all this and is coming back to where she belongs.”
“I want to show all sides of a woman, and how a woman feels about her body and her sexuality,” Larter added. “So finding that, embracing that, has been a big deal—and very different from how I am in my everyday life. But I know women like [Angela]. And I kind of wish I was like her more in my early twenties.”
