In December 2020, the Oscar-nominated actor announced his intention to live as a transgender woman and described himself as he/they pronouns. Moving forward, the character of Elliot Page will be known as Viktor Hargreeves. The program is based on a popular comic book series and features Page’s character coming out as part of his narrative arc rather than time travel or multi-dimensional factor.

On his character, in an Instagram update, he revealed a glimpse at the handle and wrote, “Meet Viktor Hargreeves,” to promote the news. He played Vanya Hargreeves in the previous two seasons of Transparent.

The Umbrella Academy’s third season with all this information will premiere on Netflix on June 22.
The number of LGBTQ characters on television is increasing, but Page’s part will be one of a few dozen across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. The GLAAD report noted that only 42 regular and recurring characters populated the platforms it examined, stating that “cultural institutions like television [can] play an important role in changing hearts and minds by providing diverse and inclusive storytelling.”
