The Times of India reports that KL Rahul will be released by LSG prior to the IPL 2025 auction. This is because, in the opinion of head coach Justin Langer and recently hired mentor Zaheer Khan, the squad has lost practically every game in which Rahul has batted long and scored runs.
The IPL 2025 big auction is almost about to happen, but first the clubs must declare which players they have kept and who they have let go of, as the retention window ends on October 31. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are one of the teams that everyone will be watching closely. This is particularly because to the controversy surrounding their skipper, KL Rahul, whose future with the team is still up in the air following a public altercation with club owner Sanjiv Goenka during an IPL 2024 play.

The Times of India reports that KL Rahul will be released by LSG prior to the IPL 2025 auction. This is because, in the opinion of head coach Justin Langer and recently hired mentor Zaheer Khan, the squad has lost practically every game in which Rahul has batted long and scored runs.
According to a source close to the situation, “the LSG management, including mentor Zaheer Khan and coach Justin Langer, have examined his statistics and it has come to light that the team has nearly lost every game in which KL has batted long and scored runs.”
IPL2025: Complete Retention of the Lucknow Super Giants Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi will be held back
According to the Times of India article, Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi are expected to be the top three retainers for LSG. Mayank Yadav, a fast bowling star, will have to be kept as an uncapped player because he made his India debut against Bangladesh in the T20I series. They are unwilling to part with Mayank because they view him as their find. Additionally, it might not come as a shock if he is kept on before Bishnoi.
According to the report, LSG may choose to retain Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan as their two uncapped retainers.
