Tirupati Stampede: Andhra Pradesh government offers the deceased’s families an ex-gratia of ₹25 lakh

Date:

The families of those killed in a stampede at the Vaikuntha Ekadashi Darshan Token Issuance Center on Wednesday night would receive Rs 25 lakh in compensation, according to the Andhra Pradesh government. To meet with the relatives of the victims and reassure them of the government’s assistance, a group of ministers traveled to Tirupati.

On Thursday morning, the bodies at Ruia Hospital were examined by Home Minister Anitha, Revenue Minister Angani Satya Prasad, Endowments Minister Anam Rama Narayana Reddy, and other high-ranking officials. They spoke with bereaved families, obtained information about the deaths, and declared that the tragedy would be thoroughly investigated. Staff who are found to be careless will face harsh consequences, and CCTV footage from the token issuing centers will be examined.

Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister, described the rush as “unfortunate” and promised to take steps to prevent future disasters. He promised to send police to the victims’ hometowns and offer support to relatives in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The relatives of those killed in the event also received condolences from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The state administration made this decision after a rush near Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan booking centers in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday claimed at least six lives and injured several more.
