The twist is that it was Netflix, of all services, that shockingly announced the cancellation of their next season of “Supacell.” This has caused the level of devastation among fans to rise and rise, just wanting any kind of answers.
According to sources close to the production, the show was canceled after protracted negotiations between Netflix and the creators failed to result in a favorable decision. Despite the popularity and critical acclaim of the show, the decision of the network seems to be financially motivated.
“Supacell” oddly enough got it notoriety for a very original storyline and great character development. The show brings together a group of young tech enthusiasts, embroiled in an unraveling government conspiracy, perfectly mixing creep-site suspense with the hyper application of science fiction.
Thus, there were high expectations in the minds of fans that this story will now be continued, especially after a good cliffhanger at the end of the previous season. But all these expectations came to naught when Netflix officially announced that the story from the previous Season 2 was not to be put forth.
It has since been a deluge of disappointment in social media, expressed as frustration and sadness over the series cancellation. People have even started online petitions for Netflix to reconsider or find another streaming platform to revive the show.
At the time of this writing, Netflix has not yet commented on the circumstances of the cancellation or even suggested that it might try to save the show somewhere else.
